Philosophy
At Thinking Hats, we aim to provide a dynamic learning environment founded on The Early Years Learning Framework. Our goal is to develop a curriculum that encourages self-discovery and empowerment in education. We aim to provide a pedagogical environment that promotes the desire for lifelong learning. We will provide children the opportunity to develop skills and curiosity to explore. We aim to offer opportunity for all children to reach their full potential.
All staffs are committed advocates for children?s rights and seek to foster a learning environment that encourages assertiveness whilst appreciating the rights of others. We encourage the integration of children with additional needs providing a learning environment which supports all children.
We support the development of positive relationships between children, adults and families through open communication, and collaboration. We encourage community involvement in our program and seek to draw on its numerous resources. We aim to develop mutually respectful partnerships within our culturally diverse community.
Thinking Hats is licensed by the Department of Community Services for 39 children per day between the ages of 2 and 6 years old. The centre staff ratio is 1 to 8 which is above requirements according to the Department of Community Services regulations. There is one Early Childhood Teacher and a number of qualified Child Care workers and assistants. Staff are encouraged and supported in further education in Early Childhood provisions. Staffs are encouraged to attend a minimum of four in-services per annum based on requirements and interests. Thinking Hats offers specific programs designed for the 2-4 and 4-6 age groups. The service provides a program and separate learning areas for each age group. Programs are developed in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework. Families are invited and encouraged to contribute contribute to their children's learning experiences.
